To protect your privacy, the BitPay app generates new addresses automatically after you use a Bitcoin (or Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, or Dogecoin) address. Using different addresses increases privacy and makes it significantly harder for others to track you using the public blockchain.
Cryptocurrency sent to a previously used address associated with your seed or 12-word recovery phrase can still be used to receive new cryptocurrency.
EVM account addresses (Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, and Optimism) do not change.
If you're using the BitPay Wallet, you can review your addresses and balances by following the steps below:
- Open the BitPay app and select your wallet key
- Select your cryptocurrency wallet
- Select the three dots in the top right, and then Wallet Settings
- Select Addresses
- Review addresses with balances
