Passkey is a password-free way to sign into bitpay.com and the BitPay app. Passkey can be enabled alongside Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as an alternative login method.
Passkey Options:
- Biometrics (fingerprint, face, or PIN) using your mobile device
- Password manager or browser extension
- USB security key
Security Benefits:
- No passwords to steal or reuse
- Resistant to phishing and data breaches
- Uses your device’s built-in biometrics or security chip
Passkey cannot be used to restore or back up BitPay Wallet keys because there is no account or login for the BitPay Wallet. We highly recommend writing down and securing your wallet key or 12-word recovery phrase before operating a BitPay Wallet. Why don't I have an online account for my BitPay Wallet?
Creating a Passkey will be prompted after account creation or logging in. Alternatively, Passkey can be managed from the bitpay.com dashboard.
- Log in to bitpay.com
- Select your email in the top right and then Settings
- Select the Security tab and then Add Passkey
