BitPay ID verification consists of entering your identity information, uploading a supporting document, and taking a selfie.
To start your BitPay ID verification, select the link to log in or create an account: https://bitpay.com/id/verify?dest=id
Creating an account:
- Add your first and last name as it appears on your identity document
- Add your email address
- Create a strong password
- Agree to Shoppers Terms of Use and Privacy Policy by checking box
- Select Create Account
- You will receive an email with the subject "Verify your Email Address"
- Select the Complete Verification button in the email
- A new browser tab will open and you'll be automatically logged in
Once logged in to a newly created account or existing account:
- In the top right, select your name/email and then Settings
- Select GET VERIFIED
- To start verification, select the Continue button
- Review and accept our third-party service provider Onfido consent
- Choose the document type and search for your country
- Take a photo or upload a photo of your document
- Take a selfie
- Confirm your information
BitPay ID verification pending or error
If you're experiencing an error or your verification has been pending longer than 24 or 48 hours, please contact BitPay Support using the BitBot (bottom right) or email us directly at support@bitpay.com.
Why is BitPay ID verification required?
BitPay is required by applicable laws and regulations to collect information about shoppers for transactions and refunds over a certain size and, in some regions, for any transaction.
If you're prompt for verification, you'll need to complete BitPay ID and be approved before proceeding.
