The BitPay Wallet is a self-custody wallet. It's crucial to understand that BitPay does not store your 12-word recovery phrase or have access to your funds; your cryptocurrency is secured by safely storing or writing down this phrase.
Important Warning Before Deletion:
A wallet key can contain multiple individual wallets that share the same recovery phrase. Deleting a wallet key will delete all wallets associated with it.
Therefore, before deleting, please ensure you have completed one of the following:
- Backed up your 12-word recovery phrase linked to this key.
- Moved all funds from all wallets connected to the key.
To delete a wallet key:
- Open the BitPay app and select the Gear icon
- Scroll down to Wallets & Keys and select the key you want to delete
- Scroll down and select Delete
Deleting a specific wallet within a key is not possible but a wallet can be hidden. Hiding the wallet means it will not be displayed with other wallets connected to your key.
To hide a wallet within a key:
- Open the BitPay app and select the Gear icon
- Scroll down to Wallets & Keys
- Select the wallet key that contains the wallet you want to hide
- Select the wallet
- Toggle Hide Wallet
