How is the BitPay wallet app related to Copay? 

The BitPay wallet app was initially launched as a BitPay supported distribution of the Copay project.  Like Copay, the BitPay Wallet is an open source project that is maintained by BitPay and available here. 

The Copay app is NOT available in the Google Play Store and any apps in the Google Play Store with the Copay brand were not posted by BitPay and/or supported/serviced by BitPay.   

We recommend existing Copay Wallet users migrate to the BitPay Wallet app to take advantage of BitPay’s latest features and capabilities including buying crypt, securely storing crypto and manage crypto.

How is the BitPay wallet app different from Copay?

Copay is a pure cryptocurrency wallet enabling users to store crypto and does not include the features and functionality found in the BitPay wallet app. Only the Bitpay wallet app, not Copay, allows users to do things beyond storage like buy Gift Cards or buy crypto directly from the app.  You can get the most recent version of BitPay wallet from the app store of your choice.

Another major difference between the BitPay wallet app and Copay is that only the BitPay app offers the BitPay Prepaid Mastercard (US customer only).  The BitPay Card allows users to turn crypto into dollars for everyday spending and the card can be securely paired with and loaded through the BitPay app. For people living on bitcoin, this makes the BitPay wallet app a great interface for managing both traditional finances and bitcoin spending/savings wallets.
