How do I move or import my wallet between mobile and desktop?

The BitPay Wallet is a self-custody wallet, which gives users complete control over their cryptocurrency. This means you are solely responsible for securing your cryptocurrency. Your funds are protected by your 12-word recovery phrase (also called wallet key or seed).

Your wallet's unique 12-word recovery phrase is used to move your wallet funds and access them on different devices. BitPay does not store your recovery phrase or have access to your funds.

Securing and backing up your wallet:

1. Open the BitPay app and select the Gear icon
2. Select Wallets & Keys and then select the wallet key you want to back up
3. Scroll down and select Backup
4. Write down the 12-word recovery phrase and store it in a secure location

To import your wallet to the BitPay app:

1. Open the BitPay app and select the + icon, or import wallet equivalent
2. Select Import Key
3. Enter your recovery phrase and then select Import Wallet
