Can I test the service without signing up for a live account?

You can test BitPay's service by creating a merchant test account and using testnet coins to make payments to test invoices.

Create a BitPay merchant test account

First, create a test merchant account and fill out the account application. Test merchant account applications are automatically accepted in our test environment.

Create a testnet wallet and receive testnet coins

To make test payments, you can use any testnet wallet. We suggest using the BitPay app to create a test wallet. Creating a testnet BitPay Wallet and receiving testnet coins.

Testnet demo transaction

The simplest way to create an invoice on the test environment is by using your BitPay merchant dashboard. Go to https://test.bitpay.com/dashboard/payment-tools/payment-buttons and generate a payment button.

After a payment button has been created, you can test your button. Pay the new BitPay invoice by scanning the QR code with the testnet wallet on your phone.
