If you have a BitPay or Copay wallet on your desktop (Windows, Mac, or Linux) before version 5.0 and want to update to version 5.0+, you will need to move your funds from the old wallet version to the new one. Please note, the Copay Electron version is only available on Linux/Snapcraft and Windows (not Mac), while the BitPay Electron version is available on all platforms.
These steps are not required for mobile app users on Android or iOS.
There are two possible ways you can make the switch on desktop:
- Create a new wallet with the version 5.0+ BitPay or Copay desktop app and back it up. Then send a transaction using the Send Max function to transfer your funds from your pre-5.0 wallet to the address of your 5.0+ wallet.
- Export your wallet seed from your pre-5.0 BitPay or Copay wallet and import it into your 5.0+ BitPay or Copay desktop wallet.
