Starting in version 6.0.0, the BitPay App lets users create multiple wallets which share the same recovery phrase. This new feature simplifies the wallet’s recovery and portability.

Before proceeding, make sure to backup your 12 word recovery phrase. You will not be able to receive any funds until you do. If you lose your 12 word phrase, you will lose access to your funds.

How to create a new wallet

To create a wallet within a new installation of the BitPay app:

• Open the BitPay app.  
• Tap the gear icon.
• Scroll down to Wallets and Keys.
• Tap Create or Import Key.

• Tap New Key.

• Select the currencies for the wallets within the Key (see below how to add a wallet on an existing Key).
  

• Tap Create Key.
• Tap Backup your Recovery Phrase.
  

• Follow the backup process.
• Write down your recovery phrase on a physical means and store it in a safe place.

If you want to create a wallet under an existing key:

• Open the BitPay app.
• Tap the gear icon.
• Scroll down to Wallets and Keys.
• Tap the Key where you want to create the wallet.

• Scroll down and tap Add a wallet.
  

• Select the currency for the wallet.
  

• Edit the wallet name.
• Tap Add Wallet.
